BREAKING: Sunderland Agree Deal for Portuguese Winger After Impressive Pre-Season Review
Sunderland have reportedly moved swiftly in the transfer market after their coaching staff concluded that adding more pace and creativity on the wings is a priority following the club’s latest pre-season outing.
The Black Cats are said to have reached an agreement to sign Rodrigo Fernandes, a highly-rated 22-year-old winger from Portugal, in a deal worth around £8 million plus performance-related add-ons.
Manager Régis Le Bris is believed to have identified the wide areas as one position needing reinforcement after analysing the team’s attacking display during pre-season. Club officials acted quickly, opening talks with the Portuguese club before reaching an agreement in principle.
Fernandes is known for his explosive acceleration, direct dribbling, and ability to play on either flank. Sunderland believe his style will add more unpredictability in the final third and provide healthy competition for places ahead of the new campaign.
The player is expected to travel to Wearside in the coming days to complete his medical and finalise personal terms before being officially unveiled.
Although Sunderland have been linked with several attacking players this summer, the club views Fernandes as one of their priority targets and expects the transfer to be completed before the start of the new season.
