Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens identifies players who can leave this summer

Leyton Orient manager Richie Wellens has reportedly made it clear that a number of players are not part of his plans moving forward, with the club prepared to listen to offers before the transfer window closes.

The decision comes as Wellens continues to reshape his squad for the new League One campaign. Orient are looking to build a group capable of competing consistently, and some players who have fallen down the manager’s pecking order could now be allowed to move on.

Among the names previously identified as available for transfer are Sean Clare, Tyreeq Bakinson, Lemar Gordon, Sonny Perkins and Josh Koroma. The club’s squad situation has also seen significant changes during the summer.

Wellens is understood to want greater balance and competition within his squad, meaning players who are unlikely to receive regular opportunities may be encouraged to find new clubs rather than remain on the fringes.

The situation could develop quickly as the transfer deadline approaches. For the players involved, a move could provide an opportunity for regular first-team football elsewhere, while Orient would potentially free up wages and squad places for further additions.

The message from the manager is therefore clear: being under contract does not necessarily guarantee a place in his plans.

Orient supporters will now be watching closely to see which players depart and whether Wellens can complete further recruitment before the window shuts.
