Demaryius Thomas Posthumously Inducted into Colorado Sports Hall of Fame

The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame has honored the late Demaryius Thomas, a beloved Denver Broncos wide receiver, by inducting him into its esteemed ranks. This posthumous recognition celebrates Thomas’s outstanding contributions to football and his enduring impact on the Colorado sports community.

Thomas’s induction ceremony took place on April 26, 2023, during the Hall of Fame’s 58th annual banquet. His parents accepted the honor on his behalf, reflecting on his legacy both on and off the field. Former teammate and quarterback Peyton Manning paid tribute to Thomas by presenting the inaugural “18 to 88” scholarship—named after their jersey numbers—to a deserving high school senior, further cementing Thomas’s commitment to youth and education.

Throughout his nine-season tenure with the Broncos, Thomas amassed impressive statistics: 655 receptions, 9,055 receiving yards, and 60 touchdowns. He ranks second in franchise history for both receptions and receiving yards, trailing only Rod Smith. Thomas’s remarkable 2014 season set a franchise record with 1,619 receiving yards, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Thomas was known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly his work with the Boys and Girls Club and his annual football camps for aspiring young athletes. His humility, leadership, and generosity left an indelible mark on the Denver community.

Thomas’s legacy continues to inspire, reminding fans and fellow athletes alike of the profound impact one individual can have through excellence, compassion, and dedication.
